Meet the Pet Lovers Behind the Scenes

As fellow pet owners, we get it—your pets are family. That’s why we treat them with the same love and care we’d give our own. At East Memphis Pet Hospital & Pet Resort, we’re all about making sure your pet feels comfortable and well taken care of, so you can relax knowing they’re in good hands.

Rachel Savoy, D.V.M.

Medical Director/Partner

Dr. Rachel Savoy joined East Memphis Pet Hospital in December of 2022. She is from a Navy family and moved frequently as a child, but graduated from high school in the Mid-South, and received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Memphis in 2009. In 2013 she graduated from vet school at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Following graduation, she completed an internship with Memphis Veterinary Specialists. She spent the next 7 years practicing in Denver, Colorado, including 3 years as a Medical Director. Nashville became home for a year, and she provided relief services to area veterinary practices, but in 2022, Memphis called her home! She and her husband, Eric, couldn’t be happier to be back in the Mid-South! Her professional interests include feline medicine, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, and community medicine. When she isn’t working, you can find her outside: skiing, hiking, and running are a few of her favorite activities. She also loves traveling, especially for philanthropic spay/neuter campaigns in developing countries. She and her husband have 2 cats, “Clyde” and “Albert”.

Lynsay Pannell, D.V.M.

Veterinarian

Dr. Lynsay was born and raised in Memphis, TN. After getting her Bachelors Degree in Animal and Dairy Science, she continued her education at Mississippi State University to obtain her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Once she graduated in 2018, she returned back to her roots, and has been practicing in the Memphis area ever since. She takes pride in getting to know pet owners and their furry family members, so that individualized plans can be created. She enjoys patient care, preventative style medicine, behavioral medicine, dermatology, and dentistry, just to name a few. Dr. Pannell loves to travel any chance she gets, entertaining and hosting friends with her husband Jason, and playing with their golden retrievers Brew and River, who often frequent the clinics!

Cheryl Deshotel

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Cheryl Deshotel joined our team in February 2012 as a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician, and transitioned to our Office Manager in January 2014. She has over 20 years of combined experience in office management and veterinary nursing which she earned while living around the US and abroad as a military spouse. When she is not assisting our clients and staff, you will find her spending time gardening, rooting on her favorite sports teams, traveling, or exploring the outdoors with her husband Bruce and their two rescue dogs Frogger and Bitsy.

Mollie Baird

Mollie Baird is a Tennessee native who became our East Memphis Pet Hospital and Resort Manager in January of 2019. After many years in the accounting field, her love of animals and interest in caring for them changed her professional direction and brought her to join our team. Mollie spends her extra time with husband Wilson, children Will and Lizzie, and dogs Cash and Tuff who all love outdoor adventures and spending time together with friends and family.
